PART-TIME POOL LIFEGUARD
COMMUNITY SERVICES TEAM (perm position)
Grade 4
Coomalie Community Government Council is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced applicant to fill the part-time position of Pool Lifeguard within the Community Services team.
The Pool Lifeguard’s key function will be to effectively and efficiently manage the operation of the Batchelor Swimming Pool. This includes supervision of patrons, the operation of all equipment, and daily maintenance of the pool and grounds. Supervisory functions will adhere to all safety and WH&S requirements.
The Pool Lifeguard will provide and maintain a safe and efficient environment for patrons and staff, comply with relevant legislation & regulations, provide competent first aid and resuscitation as required, and assist in developing workplace procedures. As part of Council's recruitment process, successful applicants will undergo pre-employment assessments, which may include a medical.

Council is seeking Expressions of Interest from suitable persons who are willing to act as a
Pool Lifeguard on a temporary, as-required basis. Applicants must be available at short notice
and willing to work some weekend shifts.
Hours of operations:
Monday 6:30am - 8:30am and 3:00pm - 6:00pm
Thursday 3:00pm - 6:00pm
Friday 6:30am - 8:30am and 3:00pm - 6:00pm
Saturday 1:00pm - 6:00pm
Sunday 12:00pm - 6:00pm
Duties include:
- Completion of Pool Testing
- Supervision of all patrons within the facility
- Interaction with the patrons
- Pool balancing as required
Required Qualifications, or a willingness to achieve:
- Provide First Aid (HLTAID011)
- HLTAID009 Provide CPR (updated within the last 12 months)
- Current Pool Lifeguard Certificate
- Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card)
- Current Police Check

Council is seeking Expressions of Interest from suitable persons who are willing to act as a
Municipal Officer on a temporary, as-required basis. Applicants must be available at short
notice and willing to work some weekend shifts.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential Selection Criteria
- Previous experience with plant and machinery
- Time management skills and good work ethics
- C Class Driver’s License
- Mechanical and problem-solving skills
- Good communication skills and having the ability to communicate with the public
- General understanding of Work Health and Safety legislation and ability to assess and approach in a responsible manner, safety of self and others
- Reliability, punctuality and being a good team player in a small team
- Ability to obtain a NT Police Check
- Ability to obtain a NT Ochre Card
Desirable Selection Criteria
- Senior First Aid Certificate (or ability to obtain the Certificate)
- Previous experience with tasks such as irrigation, slashing, spraying and road maintenance
- Good knowledge of the Coomalie region
- Heavy Rigid Driver’s License
- Chainsaw Operators certificate
- Tractor Operators certificate
- Chemical Handling certificate
- Temporary Traffic Management (STLI) certificate
Physical Demands
- Ability to work in hot humid conditions
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to assess and perform safe manual handling practices

The Community Services Officer assists with all functions within the business unit, not limited to Library Services; Sport and Recreation including Pool Lifeguard; Council Events; and Information Communication Technology Support.
